Gladstone baseball swept by Southgate Anderson

GLADSTONE –Before Southgate Anderson collided with Escanaba on Saturday, it visited Gladstone for a doubleheader on Friday.

The Braves dropped both contests to the Titans. Here’s what went down:

Titans 14 Braves 3

Gladstone got ahead early in the first inning off a RBI double from John Soderman and a two-run single from Gavin Frossard.

Freshman Cooper Sanville kept the Titans in check through the first two innings, allowing one hit. Hi second pitch of the third inning hit Nolan Prater. The miscue opened the floodgates for the Titans, who went on to score 11 runs in the inning to seal the win.

Sanville was charged with nine runs (eight earned) off six hits and a walk. Trevor Thorbahn allowed five runs (one earned) off two hits with four walks and two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Casey Alworden finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and allowed one hit and one walk in 2/3 innings of relief.

Titans 11 Braves 2

Gladstone fell behind 6-0 midway through four innings. A passed ball scored Frossard, and a RBI single from Thorbahn scored Kaden Gibbs to shave the deficit to 6-2. The Titans added a run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth and seventh to seal the win.

Soderman allowed seven runs (six earned) off 10 hits and four walks in four innings of work. Vinny Rebholz allowed two earned runs off two hits with two walks in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Frossard allowed two earned runs of three hits and three walks. Frossard, Thorbahn and Sanville had two hits each.

The Braves hit the road for a doubleheader against Menominee on Monday.
