MARINETTE, Wis., and HOUGHTON — Bayside Soccer had a difficult season opener Aug. 19 in Marinette, holding Marinette scoreless through the first half but falling to a Marinette barrage in the second to end the game 3-0.

However, Bayside earned its first win of the season during a tournament hosted in Houghton Saturday.

In its first game, Bayside’s Bryson Corrao and Luke Rice scored one apiece, Corrao in the first half and Rice in the second, while holding Copper Country Christian scoreless, 2-0.

Bayside then fell to Iron Mountain 2-1, with Caleb Basso earning the goal, and closed the tournament with a loss to Houghton 4-0.

Bayside resumes Tuesday, hosting Kingsford at the Bay College soccer fields and goes on to host Houghton Sept. 2.
