Mid Peninsula downs Rapid River

ST. NICHOLAS — Strong serving and net play made a difference for the Mid Peninsula Wolverines in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-11) volleyball triumph over the Rapid River Rockets Thursday night.

The victory enabled Mid Pen to even its season series with the Rockets, who defeated the Wolverines 3-1 at Rapid River Sept. 10.

Mid Pen’s Kora Prater collected five service aces and 13 digs.

Patty Salmi also hit five aces and Daisy Englund had four aces to go with 12 assists. Landry Koski led the Wolverines at the net with 14 kills and nine blocks.

Freshman Kristin Krouth hit 12 aces for the Mid Pen jayvees, who posted a 29-19, 25-17 victory.

The Wolverines host Engadine in the regular-season finale Thursday. The Rockets host Superior Central Tuesday.
