Superior Central girls fall to North Dickinson

EBEN — Behind a combined 33 points from Briana Smith and Ashton Hord, the fifth-ranked North Dickinson Nordics blasted Superior Central 67-22 in Skyline Central Conference girls gasketball action here Monday night.

Smith led all scorers with 17 points for the Nordics, who improved to 12-2 on the season.

“We started out fast using our usual pressure, and we tried multiple types of defense tonight,” said Nordics head coach Kirk Mattson. “We also tried out some different offensive sets, and everyone played multiple positions.”

Mattson noted that Smith and Hord did well with pressuring their guards and running things on the offensive side of the basketball. ND collected 15 steals as a team.

Charlotte Charlebois and Guinevere Himes led the Cougars (1-13, 0-10 SC) with seven points each.

SC won the JV game 45-20.

North Dickinson returns home to host Bark River-Harris on Thursday, while the Cougars visit Mid Peninsula next Monday.
