Cold shooting dooms Rapid River girls
RAPID RIVER — Cold shooting in the second half foiled the Rapid River girls here Monday night as they dropped a 45-25 basketball decision to the Stephenson Eagles.
The Rockets hit just 10-of-51 field goals in the Skyline Central Conference match-up.
Emily and Kristin Goodacre scored seven points each for the Rockets, who trailed 23-21 at halftime before scoring just four points in the second half.
Emily Johnson led the Eagles (6-7 overall, 6-4 SCC) with 15 points.
“The tale of two halves for Rapid River tonight,” Rockets coach Scott Goodacre said. “We went in at halftime down two, shooting 36% from the floor. In the second half, we were 2 for 29. The Eagles put a push on us in the third and kept the momentum.”
Stephenson sank 19-of-67 field goals and committed 11 turnovers. Rapid River (5-7 overall, 5-6 league) had 16 miscues.
The Rockets visit Engadine tonight, while the Eagles host Bark River-Harris Monday.
