UWGB picked to
win Horizon League
GREEN BAY — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball team has been picked as a co-favorite to win the Horizon League title for the 12th straight time this season in a preseason poll released by the league Thursday.
UWGB, which is coached by Kevin Borseth of Bessemer and John Barnes of Escanaba, is tied with Wright State in the poll with 91 points. Each team received four first-place votes.
The Raiders went 16-2 in conference play last season to finish one game ahead of UWGB.
UWGB, which failed to win the regular season title for the first time in two decades last season, opens the season at Central Michigan Nov. 6. Its non-conference schedule features seven teams that played in the NCAA tournament last season.
