MARINETTE — Syd Wells was the winner of the 2019 UPLGA Senior Championship held at Riverside Golf Club here Monday.

It wasn’t a big field, but Wells was able to come out on top with a winning round of 78 for her third senior title. Her previous titles were in 2014 and 2016.

Two-time defending champion Barb Scott of Escanaba Country Club finished third overall and first in the net portion of the 55-59 age division.

In order to compete, golfers have to be at least 50 years of age, and this year’s contest featured golfers in their 80s.

In the 80-plus category, golfers play just nine holes, and Ellen Swensen was the gross winner with Joan Anderson winning the net portion.
