ESCANABA — The 72nd Annual Michigan-Wisconsin Tennis Open takes place on the Royce Park, Veterans Park and high school courts this weekend.
Players should check in at Royce Park today at 8 a.m. Singles competition takes place today, with doubles play Sunday.
NMU hockey to
host golf scramble
MARQUETTE — The hockey Wildcats at Northern Michigan University will host its NMU Hockey Friends and Family golf outing in September.
Using a four-plus-one format, the outing will be held using a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, on the Greywalls course at the Marquette Golf Club. Registration takes place from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Entry fee is $350 per team and includes nine holes of golf with an NMU player, lunch on the course, two drink tickets and post-golf hors d’oeuvres.
The Larry (Fungo) Heiskanen Trophy will be awarded to the winners from the front and back nine holes, and a post-golf program will take place in the clubhouse.
