Elmer’s sweeps Mugshots, splits with Hudson’s Grill

RAPID RIVER — Taylor Trudeau went 4-for-4 in the second game of a doubleheader here Monday night as Elmer’s County Market posted a 13-7 victory over Mugshots in the Women’s Slowpitch Softball League.

Elmer’s also won the first game 22-1 in four innings.

Lorrie Botruff and Bridget Becker added three hits each for Elmer’s, which led 10-0 in the fourth inning of the nightcap.

Mugshots climbed within 10-7 in the fifth before Elmer’s sealed the deal with three runs in the sixth.

Jen Kirk, Chloe Farnham, Brenda Madden and Tasi Martinez led Elmer’s with three hits apiece in the opener. Laurel Ashbrook added a pair.

At Gladstone, Elmer’s and Hudson’s Classic Grill combined for 55 hits in the first game of a twinbill this weekend, with Kelly Brayak’s ninth inning home run lifting Hudson’s to a 25-24 triumph.

Hudson’s trailed until the fifth when it scored eight times for a 24-18 lead. Elmer’s, however, tied the contest in the seventh to force extra innings.

Brayak led Hudson’s 30-hit attack by going 6-for-7, including two doubles, a triple and the game-winning homer. Tiffany Jenkins added four hits. Mary Feuerbach collected three hits, including a double, and Bri Grimm had two doubles.

Jen Martin had four of Elmer’s 25 hits. Becker tallied three hits, including a pair of doubles. Sandy Nelson, Kirk, Botruff and Madden also had three hits.

Elmer’s bounced back to take the nightcap 14-1 in five frames.

Becker paced Elmer’s with three hits, including a double. Kendyl Miller had two hits with a double. Martin and Botruff also had two. Brayak led Hudson’s with two hits. She, Feuerbach and Grimm also doubled.
