Bark River sweeps
MUNISING — Bark River-Harris made short work of Munising here Wednesday, sweeping to 19-0 and 18-0 softball victories. Both games lasted just three innings.
Esther Oswald faced just 10 hitters in the second game, striking out two and allowing no hits or walks.
Eight-of-9 players had one or more RBIs, led by Eden Oswald who got a single, double and triple and drove in three runs. Riley Arndt added two hits and two RBIs.
“This is absolutely a momentum builder for the (Division 4) district,” said BR-H coach Jen Goodrich. “We definitely hit the ball well. We were trying to give some of our starters a little bit of rest before Friday.”
Eden Oswald fanned four of the 11 batters she faced, walked one and gave up just one hit.
“This was definitely a solid outing for Eden,” said Goodrich. “She was real close to a no-hitter. The only person who got a hit off her was their first batter.”
Alexis Berg finished 4-for-4, driving in three runs on three singles and a double. Sierra Debelak added two hits and two RBIs and Allison Richer had two hits and an RBI.
The Broncos (24-6) face host Rapid River in their district opener Friday at noon.
