Wolves thump Big Bay

GARDEN CORNERS — An offensive explosion carried the Carney-Nadeau boys past Big Bay de Noc 90-36 here Tuesday in a Skyline Central Conference basketball game. Four Wolves scored in double figures, including Max Baumler with 26 and Beau Koffman with 23.

The Wolves (7-1, 2-0 SC) raced out to a 27-9 lead after one quarter and led 55-18 at the half.

“We had lots of energy,” Wolves coach Jacob Polfus said. “We got out and ran better than we have all year long. We wanted to score some points — putting points on the board is a good confidence booster.

“Our defense has been good all year but it’s good to see the ball go through the basket. We have a bunch of games coming up on the road so hopefully this carries over.”

Brett LaFord scored 12 points and had 17 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals.

“He did a little bit of everything,” Polfus said. “He got everyone involved.”

Mike Flanigan added 10 points for the Wolves.

Alex LaLonde led the Black Bears (0-8, 0-2) with 13 points.

C-N visits Mid Peninsula Thursday, while Big Bay is at Stephenson Thursday.
