ESCANABA – Maia Schecter has won the Potawatomi Cup on the Symetra Tour.

The Chapel Hill, N.C. resident pocketed $6,000 for winning the Cup after compiling a total of 704.25 points in the four events as part of the Symetra Tour.

The Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass is one of the four events to determine the Cup. Events in South Bend, Battle Creek and Milwaukee complete the four tournaments.

Schecter won the most recent event, in Battle Creek, to secure the Cup.

Volvik Cup leader Dottie Ardina finished second in the Potawatomi Cup with 546 points. Ruixin Liu, who won the Sweetgrass tournament nearly two months ago, finished third with 532 points.

Liu is seventh in the season-long Volvik Cup. The top 10 finishers qualify for the LPGA Tour each year.

Marta Sanz Barrio was fourth with 520 and rookie Casey Danielson of Osceola, Wis. was fifth with 417.5 points.

Danielson was the subject of a Daily Press feature story during the Sweetgrass tournament.
