Remember when?

EDITOR: Remember when? Back in the day, we could go to McDonalds, Burger King, Hardees, Wendy’s and KFC and sit down inside and eat. If you were a late night person, or needed something for a sick loved one or just liked shopping at night, you could go to Elmer’s, Walmart or Meijer because they were open 24 hours. Remember having that great lunch at Ferdinand’s or Delonas on Monday or Tuesday? I remember going to Drifter’s in the early evening for dinner. The ‘good ole’ days’. Enough about food. There was a time, way back in the old days of 2019 when you could go into ...

Rights of the individual

EDITOR: Liberty can be defined as where the rights of the individual supersede the rights of a majority. Liberty is different than Democracy. God given rights are just that. They are rights endowed by their creator and cannot be subject to the impulsive changing, will of man. Our puritan forefathers and successive generations of immigrants like myself understand this. We fled countries where the majority flexed its muscles in matters of religion, ethnicity, health etc etc. America, instead, enshrined rules to stop regulations or outlawing matters that didn’t directly pertain to ...

Bear hunt photos

EDITOR: Those of us who love and cherish all life as God’s creation hate having to see this slaughter published in our Daily Press newspaper. I asked how she felt about these issues, and how she was going to vote. The man who answered was rude from the ...

We don’t need more programs

EDITOR: This is in response to Mindy Grant’s letter in the September 30 Daily Press. We don’t need more advanced programs to feed kids. What we need is more responsible parents to go to work and feed their kids not the taxpayer feeding their kids. There was summer nutrition programs before COVID. There are help wanted signs everywhere. All businesses are short of help because they can’t get people to work. If they do hire someone most of the time they don’t even show up for work. They start at $14 to $15 per hour. I never made $11 per hour after being there for years when I ...
