Joint development of jail property makes sense

EDITOR: In reading the article on the potential development of the city, county and chamber property, I really think the concept of a local joint development between local residents and business interest makes sense. This concept could create a win for the residents, a win for the local developers and a win for local business. The concept is also fully supported by the community Master Plan. U.P. campaign

EDITOR: I want to thank the Upper Peninsula for welcoming me and my campaign for governor as we traveled through last week. From meeting with local business leaders like Heather at Drifter’s and Marilyn at Snowmobile Museum to meeting with local activists at Hereford and Hops in Escanaba, the warm reception left me with optimism for Michigan’s future. Plant a tree

EDITOR: We know that trees process and retain carbon dioxide and thereby produce oxygen. This ability makes the tree our staunchest ally in the battle to preserve a livable atmosphere. You would think the political class would encourage the protection and propagation of our ally, the tree. Instead they promote artificial means which do not accomplish the task they are rumored to achieve. Dear Dr. Fletcher and Escanaba School Board members: It has come to our attention that you are considering bringing boy’s tennis back under the financial umbrella of the Escanaba School System. We heartily endorse this idea. Boys tennis has flourished under the excellent leadership of Tom Penegor. There are more boys going out for tennis in Escanaba now than at any other time in the history of Escanaba High.
