Parker column

EDITOR: Whoever is in charge at the Daily Press needs to go outside and get some fresh air. Go and talk to some people at the grocery store. Listen to the people. In your backyard. You will find out that not everyone watches MSNBC, or CNN. In fact, you will find that the 15 viewers that MSNBC has are in Marquette or Houghton. Kathleen Parker writes that “Weirder Republicans” have been returned to power. Weirder? And how were they returned? By a larger number of Americans voting for them. Those weirder Republicans! The “angry hoards attacked the Capital. No, not a smart ...

Regarding Proposal 3

EDITOR: I was raised to believe that there is right, and wrong — no in-between. Proposal 3 that was voted on and passed into law is definitely wrong. A parent’s job is to love, nurture, and protect their children. Proposal 3 allows your child to have an abortion, without your knowledge or consent. (These “changes” are not reversible.) If you think sex change is okay, read Psalm 139:13: “For you formed my inward parts. Help Toys for Tots make Christmas bright

EDITOR: It’s almost unimaginable, the thought of a child without a gift from Santa. It’s a day they look forward to all year, and they don’t understand the complexities of life that make gift-giving a burden for some. EDITOR: My car insurance needed to be renewed. In Michigan, you can’t just renew what you had last year. You have to physically sign documents. My premiums were paid a month ago. I wasn’t getting renewal documents. I called and they said that a signature and date was required. So, I signed and dated the forms. Even though my intent was known since I already paid, until they had a signed and dated copy, I didn’t get insurance. If I had been in an accident, or been required to show a proof, I would not have been able to. On November 8, a “group” went to court in Pennsylvania, ...

Youth Assistance Program fills gaps for those in need

EDITOR: As we approach this holiday season, I am filled with gratitude for the generous and compassionate community of which I am a part – even through the pandemic and financial insecurities. I am reminded that while we traditionally focus on thanks and giving this time of year, one of the most important things we can do is extend the spirit of thanksgiving throughout the year. Gifts of time, goods, services, and money are all critical to the charitable organizations who work to fill the gaps for those in need. The Youth Assistance Program (YAP) of Delta County is one of those ...
