Medical professionals shouldn’t need a biology lesson

Letter to the Editor

It is sad in the extreme when I hear a medical professional (OBGYN) testifying to Congress that she cannot answer yes or no to the question “is it possible for a man to have a baby” – posed in a number of ways. Her following statement could not confirm whether it is possible or not.

Let’s be “sixth-grade simple” on this. Only female mammals (humans included) can carry and birth a child (baby, mature fetus, etc.). To even think a male could do this is frightfully insane. But then, to the perpetually WOKE left, this is gospel and acceptance is required to validate their belief that transgenderism can equate to trans-sexualism and permit men to participate in what was previously all woman activities.

Virtually all higher animals and fruiting plants can be genetically separated into male and female types. In humans, the male carries the X and Y chromosome in every nucleus in his body (literally billions of cells), the female, XX. There is no — I repeat, no! — way to convert a cell from Y to X and alter the sex of that being.

Sex is not gender. Sex is genetic, there are only two. Gender is a form of language arbitrarily used to designate inanimate objects as possessing either male or female characteristics. There is no science involved, it is purely a value judgement based on the imagined sexual association of an object.

Language arbitrarily creates nouns, pronouns and adjectives for gender-descriptive identification. This is a matter of culture and centuries of common understanding – there is no science to create a basis for this reality. The “gender” of objects or beings is purely arbitrary and inconsistent between languages – there is no universality governing the choice of ascribing a “gender” to an object. In fact, some languages do not use genders.

To think the wrong use of a pronoun can be cause for job dismissal, academic censure or other punishment is profoundly ignorant and yet has occurred, with significant damage to those adversely affected. At present, there is no recourse for them.

Asking a person “what pronouns do you use” is a demonstration of gender choice “I use …” and may have absolutely no relation to their birth-sex. When I was asked, I simply responded “none.”

Protecting persons from discrimination based on sex is proper, discriminating on gender is baseless and should have no special form of protection. You can select your gender to best suit your personal perception. You cannot choose your sex. Sex and gender are entirely different entities and should always be viewed as such.

All arguments I have heard trying to include men in woman’s sports (and expanded to other endeavors, like awarding sex-specific college scholarships!) should be met with strong and indignant opposition.

Pay attention to those who propose the inclusion of men in traditional woman’s activities. What is their agenda? Ask them if they can explain the difference between sex and gender. Beware!
