Edgar M. Jacobsen, Jr., ‘Skip’

ESCANABA — Edgar M. Jacobsen, Jr., “Skip”, age 74, of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at UP Health System in Marquette surrounded by his beloved wife, Susan and close family members.
Edgar “Skip” was born on October 10, 1950 to the proud parents of Captain and Mrs. Edgar M. Jacobsen, Sr. He was raised in Cleveland and graduated from Lakewood High School. He earned his B.S. degree from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Civil Engineering and his M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University. On August 15, 2003 Skip and Susan were married on Mackinac Island. He worked in Cleveland and built and developed many of the buildings that now light up the Cleveland Skyline. When he retired from the Cleveland Port Authority, he and Susan moved to Escanaba to enjoy their lovely cottage on Lake Michigan.
Skip is survived by his loving wife, Susan; devoted brother, Gregg (Michele) Jacobsen; gentle mother-in-law, Catherine Kumkoski; sister-in-law, Denna Zuidema; brothers-in-law, Michael Kumkoski, James Kumkoski, Mark Kumkoski and Thomas Kumkoski; nephews, Christopher Jacobsen (Whitney), James Sawaski (Kathleen), and Michael Zuidema (Taylor); and great nieces and nephews Nellie, Beckham, Ava, Henry (Erin), and RJ (Stephanie).
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Marvin Kumkoski; and brother-in-law, Mike Zuidema.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family and everyone who knew him. The Crawford Funeral Home will be assisting the Jacobsen family with a private family service.
