Michael A. Lauzon
ESCANABA — Michael A. Lauzon, 78, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully from heart failure on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at his home with family by his side.
He was born on November 14, 1944 in Escanaba, Mich., son of Arthur J. and Dorothy C. (Green) Lauzon. Mike graduated from Holy Name High School in 1963 and attended Bay De Noc Community College.
On August 5, 1967, Michael married the former Joanne Nehmer.
With the help of his paper route money, at the age of 19 Mike purchased and operated the UP Original Sub Shop for 40 years. He retired December 26, 2002.
He was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick’s Church. Mike served on the board for Delta County Credit Union and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Lauzon of Escanaba; daughter, Lacy Sue Lauzon of Escanaba; son, Jeffrey Joseph (Merissa) Lauzon of Milwaukee, Wis.; granddaughters, Grace and Hope of Milwaukee, Wis.; sister, Mary (Snooky) Koehler of Green Bay, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Lauzon of Milford, Mich.; and Susan Stade of Gladstone, Mich.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Jo; brother, Richard Lauzon, in-laws, Harold and Ethel Nehmer, brothers-in-law, Scott Stade and Gordon Koehler; and niece, Amy (Stade) Rickel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating. At the conclusion of the Mass a luncheon will be served in the church hall.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 709 1st Avenue S., Escanaba or to the UP Hospice Foundation, 901 S. Lincoln Rd. Suite 2, Escanaba, MI.
