Everett Dean ‘Bud’ Kalishek

GLADSTONE, Mich. — Everett Dean “Bud” Kalishek, age 85, of Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, MI.

Bud was born on April 11,1936, in Gladstone, the son of Clifford and Georgina “Toots” (Smith) Kalishek. He was raised in Gladstone and was a graduate of Escanaba High School. Following high school, Bud enlisted in the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge in 1959. On October 27, 1962, Bud was united in marriage to the former Eugenie “Genie” Bernier, in Garden, and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Gladstone. Bud was employed as a design engineer and supervisor at Anthony and Company in Escanaba until his retirement in 1998. Some of his favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, photography, cooking and snow-birding in Arizona. Additionally, Bud enjoyed shooting pool and playing in an occasional pool tournament.

Survivors include: children, Rebecca (Benjamin) Sherk, David (Tara Gluski) Kalishek, Susan Royer, Dean Kalishek, Michael (Rebeca) Kalishek, Jennifer Kalishek, and Daniel Kalishek; daughter-in-law, Tammy Kalishek; grandchildren, Harley, Emily, Sarah, Scott, Eric, Grace, Jacob, Lily, Lucas, Trinity, and Nathan

Great Grandchildren: Pixel and Milo; brothers, Gary (Donna) Kalishek and Daniel (Karen) Russell; sisters. Maxine (Jerry) Vallier and Cheryl (Dennis) Bernard; sisters-in-law, Janet and Florence Kalishek. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Georgina “Toots” Kalishek, and his loving wife Genie; sons, Scott and James Kalishek; son-in-law, Tracy Royer; brothers, James, Michael and John Kalishek; sisters, Patricia Alworden and Kathleen Seronko; brothers-in-law, John Alworden and Charles Seronko.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Closing prayers and a time of sharing will conclude visiting hours at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in Bud’s name may be directed to Lakestate Industries. Envelopes will be available throughout visitation.
