Susann M. Binola

She was born on June 27, 1947, in Escanaba, daughter of Rolf and Edna (Hardy) Nelson. Susann attended Escanaba High School and later earned her LPN degree with Bay College.

On March 13, 1965, Susann married Waino D. Binola at Christ the King Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2017.

Susann worked as an LPN for several years in our community until her retirement in 1982.

She loved to knit and sew and was very talented with making shawls and hunting socks. Susann also enjoyed reading.

Susann was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Among survivors include her children, Rhonda Binola of Marinette, Wis., Stephanie (Mark) Makosky of Ishpeming and Waino R. Binola of Appleton, Wis.; grandchildren, Chad, Herbie, Vinnie, Wesley, Raina, Mark, Alex and Wyatt; two great-grandchildren, Linkoln and Leonard; her dog, Muffin; and siblings, Lori, Tammy, Thor “Butchy”, Pauly and Billy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Waino, she was preceded in death by siblings, Carol, JoAnne and Mary.

A gathering to celebrate the life of Susann will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the United Steel Workers Union Hall Local 2-21, 1201 Sheridan Road in Escanaba.
