Clara Ann Johnson

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Clara Ann Johnson, 84, of Rockford, Ill., passed away at her home surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Fred W. and Clara (St. Antoine) Tyran, she was born on Oct. 6, 1934, in Ford River, Mich. She married the love of her life, James L. Johnson, on Saturday, Dec. 22, 1951, at St. Patrick Church in Escanaba, Mich. Clara enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing golf and cards with her friends, and working in the yard. She cherished spending time with her family and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a devout Catholic and a member at St. Bridget Church in Loves Park, Ill., since the 1950s. She will be forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Clara is survived by her beloved husband, James; daughters, Jill (Jim) Marsili, Cyndi (Dennis) DeMars, and Susan (Mike) Lockinger; son, Charles Johnson; daughter-in-law, Julie Johnson; grandchildren, Cecil Johnson, Scott Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Jenna Huffine, Jacob Marsili, Joy Bohn, Jade Peppers, Kristy Swinbank, and Camryn Lockinger; great-grandchildren, Alyssa McBride, Myles Rizzo, Penelope Federico, Delfina Federico, Jaxon Huffine, Carson Huffine, Riley Sisler, Dylan Garrett, Hudson Thelen, Weston Thelen, Noah Matthew Johnson, and Kaden Swinbank; brother, James (Bonnie) Tryan; sisters, Eileen Burkland, Betty Williams, and Gladys Thruman.

She was preceded in death by her son, James L. Johnson Jr.; grandson, Matthew L. Johnson; parents, Fred and Clara Tryan; brothers, Earl Tryan, Robert Tryan, Fred Tryan, Kenneth Tryan, and Louis Tryan; sister, Margaret King.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, especially Brandon and Sue for their love and compassion. A special thanks to her faithful friends, Jean Cassens, Mary Gehant, Sylvia O’Leary, Nancy Schleicher, and Joan Webber. An extra special thanks to Cyndi, her daughter and caregiver. There will be a Funeral Mass begining at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park, Ill. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be private at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the family’s name to be used for one of Clara’s favorite charities.
