Bay College recognized as veteran-friendly
ESCANABA — Bay de Noc Community College has been officially recognized as a Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for the 2025-2026 academic year.
This prestigious designation — the highest level in the state’s Veteran-Friendly Schools Program — honors institutions that set the standard in serving veterans, their dependents, and all military-connected learners.
Bay College’s Gold status reflects an outstanding commitment to ensuring military-affiliated students have access to the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive. From innovative programming to tailored student services, Bay has demonstrated strong leadership in creating a welcoming and resource-rich environment where service members and their families can succeed academically and personally.
The Veteran-Friendly Schools Program provides veterans with an easy way to evaluate and compare participating Michigan colleges and universities based on their support services and opportunities. Status is determined through a committee review process that assesses each institution’s efforts to serve and empower student veterans. Bay College’s Gold designation places it among the very best schools in the state for military-connected students.
Bay College President Dr. Nerita Hughes said of the designation, “By earning Gold status, we affirm our commitment to excellence, service, and integrity. This recognition is not merely a badge – but a promise. A promise to our students, our employees, and our community that we will continue investing in opportunity and empowering success.”
