Primary Election voter forum scheduled for July 24

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters (LWVDC) in partnership with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host a Primary Candidate Forum on Wednesday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Escanaba City Council Chambers, 410 Ludington Street. The forum will feature the Delta County Clerk and Register of Deeds candidates, Republicans Nancy Prezewrocki and Elizabeth Moberg and the contested Delta County Commissioner candidates for all Districts.

The candidates for District 1 are John Malnor (R) and Sandra Skiba (R), District 2 candidates are Patrick Johnson (R) and Steven Viau (R), District 3 candidates are Bob Barron (R) and Christine Williams (R), District 4 candidates are Jason Sacco (D) and Kelli VanGinHoven (D), District 5 candidates are Matthew Jensen (R) and Robert Petersen (R).

The moderator for the evening will be Shannon Taylor. The public is invited to attend the forum. Audience questions will be encouraged. The public may also submit questions to lwvdeltacounty@gmail.com.

The forum will consist of two segments beginning with the Delta County clerk and register of deeds candidates. After a five-minute break the forum will continue with the Delta County commissioner candidates. The forum will include opening statements, audience questions and closing statements. The forum will be streamed live over the City of Escanaba’s website – https://www.dstech.net/live-streams/city-council-chambers/ and WDBC/WYKX radio.

The Primary Election will be on August 6 with the polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting begins on July 27 and concludes on August 4. Absentee ballots are available from your local clerk.
