Work begins on Monument to Labor

Brian Rowell Daily Press

Members of the Delta County Trades and Labor Council began work on a Monument to Labor Monday at the Escanaba Municipal Dock. The focal point of the monument will be precast reliefs depicting workers. According to former Escanaba City Manager Jim O’Toole the project was proposed back in 2013 and became part of the Escanaba Sesquicentennial planning effort. The reliefs were salvaged during the demolition of the old Department of Public Works building on North 8th Street. Four historical labor reliefs were salvaged for inclusion into a future public art project, according to O’Toole.

Starting at $3.50/week.
