ESCANABA — A home was destroyed early Wednesday morning in Wells Township, according to Escanaba Public Safety officers. Residents were able to escape the home unharmed.

At approximately 6:04 a.m., officers were called to a fully involved structure fire at a single story home located at 5043 M.5 Lane in Wells Township. Escanaba Public Safety arrived on scene and battled the fire for approximately two hours, but the residence was a complete loss. All firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 9 a.m. All occupants of the home made it out safely and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Escanaba Public Safety officers were assisted at the fire scene by the Ford River Volunteer Fire Department, Rampart EMS, DTE Energy, UPPCO Electric Company and American Red Cross.
