Only four new COVID-19 cases seen in U.P.

ESCANABA — State data Monday showed only four new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula, none of them in local counties.

The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Monday also had no changes to its figures Monday, as virus activity in the region continues to wane.

As of Monday, Delta County has had 3,348 confirmed positives, 719 probable cases and 93 deaths, according to PHDMC. Menominee County had 1,796 confirmed positives, 329 probable and 40 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday listed one new case each in Marquette, Luce, Ontonagon and Mackinac counties since its last update Saturday.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 20,025 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 435 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 254 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 321 confirmed, 195 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 352 confirmed cases and 83 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 418 confirmed, 60 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 454 confirmed cases and 255 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 690 confirmed cases, 125 probable and 37 deaths; Iron County, 983 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,042 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,079 confirmed cases and 1,395 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,793 confirmed cases, 327 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,404 confirmed cases and 339 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,528 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 34 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,342 confirmed cases and 714 probable, 75 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,251 confirmed cases, 820 probable and 61 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 419 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total to date of 890,764. The state Monday had 11 new deaths attributed to the virus for the two-day period to reach 19,376.
