A young ice-angler showed the true meaning of “beginner’s luck” recently, when he landed two large fish on his very first ice fishing excursion. Jerry Wangrund, age 10 from Escanaba, caught a 31-inch northern pike in the afternoon and in the evening caught a 22-inch walleye on Feb. 27 in Kipling. In these photos, Wangrund is all smiles as he shows off his catches. Wangrund was fishing with Jake Tyner and family.
