Just Ducky

Ilsa Minor | Daily Press Northern Exposure isn’t the only exhibit on display now at the Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba. The traveling exhibit featuring the winning artwork from the Michigan Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest is also on display. The competition draws in young artist from schools across Michigan, vying to create the best image of one of America’s many waterfowl species. The best in show piece from the state-level competition — an image of a Northern Shoveler, which was made by Amanda Chen of Art Corner Studio in Ann Arbor — will compete against other pieces from across the nation, with the top artists receiving monetary prizes. The national first place entry is also featured on a postage stamp, which can be purchased through the U.S. Postal Service and select National Wildlife Refuges.
