Virus cases continue to climb locally
ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula had 4,768 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 796 probable cases, 86 deaths and seven probable deaths linked to the disease, as of Friday according to state officials.
Delta County had a total of 974 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 137 probable cases and 20 deaths, two probable deaths and 301 recovered cases (including prorobable cases; Menominee County had 586 confirmed cases, 77 probable cases, three deaths and 320 recovered cases (including probable cases; Schoolcraft County had 58 confirmed cases, four probable cases and one probable death.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 78 confirmed cases and 25 probable cases, and one death; Baraga County had 64 confirmed cases, 13 probable cases and four deaths; Chippewa County had 68 confirmed cases and 55 probable cases; Dickinson County had 539 confirmed cases, 11 probable case, 16 deaths and one probable death; Gogebic County had 241 confirmed cases, 107 probable cases, one death and one probable death; Houghton County had 745 confirmed cases, 150 probable cases, eight deaths and one probable death; Iron County had 372 confirmed cases, 32 probable cases, 20 deaths and one probable deaths; Keweenaw County had 17 confirmed cases and one probable case; Luce County had 37 confirmed cases and 11 probable case; Mackinac County had 122 confirmed cases and 30 probable cases; Marquette County had 794 confirmed cases, 137 probable cases and 13 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 73 confirmed cases and six probable cases.
The state does not include infections or deaths within the Michigan Department of Corrections system in county-by-county counts.
