Downstate man shot, killed by crossbow
ARVON TOWNSHIP — The Baraga County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man who was shot by a crossbow Tuesday in Arvon Township. Deputies said Ross Leo Fruin, 61, of Battle Creek, was shot with a crossbow about 8:30 a.m. by Randy Orin Cole, 65, of Dowling, Mich. Fruin was transported to UP Health Systems Marquette where he later died of his injuries.
Deputies said Cole was issued a citation for careless, reckless, negligent use of a bow and arrow causing injury or death. The incident remains under investigation by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Department.
