107 Yoopers dead from coronavirus
ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula had 5,836 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 942 probable cases, 107 deaths and 21 probable deaths linked to the disease, as of Friday according to state officials.
Due to statewide network issues, some of the numbers included in Friday’s count would normally have been counted today.
It was also noted by the state Friday that 22 of the additional deaths statewide were the result of vital records searches. These deaths were identified as COVID-19 related by comparing death certificates with confirmed COVID-19 cases.
As of Friday, Delta County had a total of 1,181 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 151 probable cases and 28 deaths, six probable deaths and 510 recovered cases (including probable cases); Menominee County had 674 confirmed cases, 83 probable cases and six deaths and 382 recovered cases (including probable cases); and Schoolcraft County had 86 confirmed cases and seven probable cases and one probable death.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 91 confirmed cases and 28 probable cases and one probable death; Baraga County had 96 confirmed cases, 18 probable cases and four deaths; Chippewa County had 97 confirmed cases and 85 probable cases; Dickinson County had 700 confirmed cases, 22 probable case and 20 deaths and one probable death; Gogebic County had 317 confirmed cases, 126 probable cases, three deaths and eight probable deaths; Houghton County had 813 confirmed cases, 164 probable cases and eight deaths and one probable; Iron County had 434 confirmed cases, 31 probable cases and 22 deaths and three probable deaths; Keweenaw County had 19 confirmed cases and two probable cases; Luce County had 54 confirmed cases and 21 probable cases and one probable death; Mackinac County had 131 confirmed cases and 36 probable cases; Marquette County had 1,041 confirmed cases, 154 probable cases and 15 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 102 confirmed cases and 14 probable cases.
The LMAS District Health Department has reported the following recovered cases, which include probable cases, as of Wednesday, Oct. 28: Luce County, 13; Mackinac County, 69; Alger County, 20; and Schoolcraft County, 28.
The state does not include infections or deaths within the Michigan Department of Corrections system.
