U.P. nears 2K cases of virus
ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula had 1,936 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 303 probable cases and 25 deaths linked to the disease as of Friday, according to state officials.
Delta County had a total of 334 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 43 probable cases and seven deaths; Menominee County had 323 confirmed cases, 46 probable cases and one death; and Schoolcraft County had 23 confirmed cases and two probable cases.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 16 confirmed cases and one probable case; Baraga County had 17 confirmed cases and nine probable cases; Chippewa County had 50 confirmed cases and 27 probable cases; Dickinson County had 125 confirmed cases, three probable case and two deaths; Gogebic County had 146 confirmed cases, 12 probable cases and one death; Houghton County had 362 confirmed cases, 80 probable cases and one death; Iron County had 141 confirmed cases, four probable cases and one death; Keweenaw County had eight confirmed cases and one probable case; Luce County had 12 confirmed cases and one probable case; Mackinac County had 41 confirmed cases and 16 probable cases; Marquette County had 297 confirmed cases, 57 probable cases and 12 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 41 confirmed cases and one probable case.
The state does not include cases or deaths of inmates in the Michigan Department of Corrections in county counts.
