Delta County virus deaths increase to 5

ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula had 1,347 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 224 probable cases and 22 deaths linked to the disease as of Wednesday, according to state officials. These numbers include a newly-reported death in Delta County.

“It was a male, and there were underlying health conditions,” Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties Health Officer Michael Snyder said.

Delta County had a total of 206 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 33 probable cases and five deaths; Menominee County had 247 confirmed cases, 31 probable cases and one death; and Schoolcraft County had 19 confirmed cases and one probable case.

Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 16 confirmed cases and one probable case; Baraga County had eight confirmed cases and five probable cases; Chippewa County had 44 confirmed cases and 24 probable cases; Dickinson County had 80 confirmed cases, three probable cases and two deaths; Gogebic County had 140 confirmed cases, 12 probable cases and one death; Houghton County had 195 confirmed cases, 42 probable cases and one death; Iron County had 50 confirmed cases, three probable cases and one death; Keweenaw County had six confirmed cases and two probable cases; Luce County had 13 confirmed cases and one probable case; Mackinac County had 37 confirmed cases and 15 probable cases; Marquette County had 246 confirmed cases, 50 probable cases and 11 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 40 confirmed cases and one probable case.
