Michigan virus cases top 100K

ESCANABA — Statewide, the number of COVID-19 cases soared to 100,699 Friday, and 6,446 Michiganders have died of the disease. However, U.P. cases make up only a small fraction of those numbers.

The Upper Peninsula had 962 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths linked to the disease as of Friday, according to state officials.

Delta County had a total of 116 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 26 probable cases and three deaths; Menominee County had 212 confirmed cases and 31 probable cases; and Schoolcraft County had 14 confirmed cases and one probable case.

Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 16 confirmed cases and one probable case; Baraga County had six confirmed cases and two probable cases; Chippewa County had 36 confirmed cases and 20 probable cases; Dickinson County had 63 confirmed cases, one probable case and two deaths; Gogebic County had 132 confirmed cases, 10 probable cases and one death; Houghton County had 55 confirmed cases and nine probable cases; Iron County had 27 confirmed cases and one death; Keweenaw County had two confirmed cases; Luce County had 20 confirmed cases; Mackinac County had 26 confirmed cases and eight probable cases; Marquette County had 204 confirmed cases, 34 probable cases and 11 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 33 confirmed cases and one probable case.
