Second bear in week in Escanaba
ESCANABA – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Escanaba Public Safety responded to reports of a bear in a tree on Lake Shore Drive in Escanaba Friday morning.
As of press time, the DNR was waiting for additional personnel to arrive at the scene. They were planning to attempt to sedate the bear so it can be removed from the tree and transported out of the area.
The incident marks the second bear sighting in Escanaba this week. On Tuesday, a 120-pound male black bear was removed from a tree near the corner of South 11th Street and 8th Avenue South and was released in a remote part of northern Delta County.
