Esky library, civic center closed through April 5

The city of Escanaba has closed the Escanaba Public Library and Catherine Bonifas Civic Center starting today in order to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus

“At this time, we feel it is best to close these two departments according Governor Whitmer’s State of Emergency Order which states, ‘…essential protections to vulnerable Michiganders and this state’s health care system and other critical infrastructure, it is crucial that all Michiganders take steps to limit in-person contact, particularly in the context of large groups,'” city officials said in a press release.

Plans are to keep the buildings closed through at least April 5.

If you have any questions regarding the coronavirus, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) now has a statewide hotline. It will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 1-888-535-6136.

MDS CAA Early Childhood Program, Head Start and Early Head Start canceled

In response to Governor Whitmer’s order to cancel K-12 schools for three weeks to provide consis

ency for families and to be proactive in the spread of COVID-19, MDS CAA Early Childhood Program, Head Start and Early Head Start has canceled classes for three weeks.

The MDS CAA Early Childhood Program will not have classes starting today through April 5. This includes all sites in Menominee, Delta, and Schoolcraft counties. This also includes the Toddler Room at our Escanaba Early Childhood Center. All playgroups, family events, and socializations during this time are also canceled.

Michigan Iron Industry Museum is closed

In accordance with Gov. Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ recommendations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee is closed to the public. The museum expects to reopen April 14.

Delta Copunty joint governmental meeting canceled

The Joint Government meeting for Monday March 16 is cancelled.

Escanaba City Counil meeting

The EScanaba City Council has canceled its special meeting scheduled tonight.

Spring concert canceled

The Bay de Noc Choral Society Spring Conert on April 5 has been canceled.
