Woman saved from house fire in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — A Gladstone woman was rescued from her house after it caught fire Sunday. The cause of the fire remains under ­investigation.

According to Gladstone Public Safety Department, officers and Gladstone Fire Department volunteers were called to the home, located at 112 Cliffs Drive, at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday. Delta County Central Dispatch had advised officers a woman was still inside the home.

When officers arrived, the 80-year-old woman was brought safely outside of the home, police said. She was transported by Rampart EMS to St. Francis Hospital and then air lifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis.

The fire was contained and extinguished quickly. The home sustained heavy interior fire and smoke damage, according to police.

Gladstone Public Safety and Volunteer Fire Department were assisted by Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department, Rampart EMS and Delta County Central Dispatch.
