Man gets prison on meth charge in Menominee County

MENOMINEE – A Milwaukee man was sentenced up 45 years in prison in Menominee County after undercover detectives recovered nearly a pound of methamphetamines.

Menominee Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T Rogg announced that Bounliam Khidsukhum, 42, of Milwaukee, Wisc., was sentenced last month by 41st Circuit Court Judge Mary B. Barglind on one count of delivery of methamphetamine – a habitual fourth offender.

Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gerald Karafa conducted the jury trial, who found Khidsukhum guilty of his alleged crimes.

He was sentenced to 15 to 45 years in prison.

In August 2024, undercover detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) began “negotiating” with Khidsukhum aka “The Booski King,” for the purchase of large amounts of methamphetamines.

On September 4 that year, a team of UPSET detectives met Khidsukhum at an Oasis Gas Station in Menominee County where he was arrested with 432 grams of methamphetamines.

“The amount of methamphetamine trafficked from out-of-state in this case – almost a pound is significant,” Rogg said.

“This investigation and prosecution wiped out a substantial connection between predatory drug suppliers and the citizens of Menominee County,” he added.

Rogg also added he and local law enforcement is committed to holding criminals accountable for drug trafficking.

“Too often, Menominee and its surrounding communities feel the impact of illegal drug distribution. I hope the message is clear: UPSET and my other law enforcement partners will not let drug dealers take hold of our communities. I am committed to making Menominee County safe, and to holding criminals accountable for the drug trafficking that destroys our families,” Rogg said.

He added that Khidsukhum is a Thai National, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been notified of his conviction.
