Escanaba residents urged to follow recycling rules
ESCANABA –The City of Escanaba would like to remind residents about proper recycling practices to
help keep our community clean and environmentally responsible. By placing only
accepted materials in recycling cans, residents help reduce contamination and ensure
efficient processing at recycling facilities.
Items that CAN be placed in recycling cans include:
– Clean paper and cardboard
– Plastic bottles and containers
– Aluminum and steel cans
Please DO NOT place the following items in recycling cans:
– Plastic bags or plastic wrap
– Food waste or liquids
– Pizza boxes, or any other cardboard that isn’t clean
– Styrofoam
– Electronics, batteries, or hazardous materials
– Glass
Correct can placement on pick up day
– Cans out by 6:30am on scheduled pick-up day
– Cans 3 feet spaced apart from any other objects, (other cans, buildings, vehicles,
fences, poles, trees, mailboxes, etc.)
Improper placement of cans or improper items in recycling bins can cause delays and
increase costs for waste management. For a full list of acceptable recycling materials,
