Parkinson support group to meet

MENOMINEE — The Red Horse Parkinson support group will meet Thursday, March 21 at the Harbors Retirement Building, 1110 10th Avenue Menominee at 10 a.m. Paul Marti with Acorda Therapeutics will the presenter. He is the area business manager for Wisconsin & the UP of Michigan for Acorda Theraspeutics. There will be a discussion about on demand for Parkinson Disease. This discussion is designed to educate patients and carepartners on how to identify and give options on how to manage the return of Parkinson Disease symptoms.

Parkinson Disease is a movement disorder disease that effects millions of people. It is incurable at this time but much progress is being made to stop this disease. There are many symptoms to watch for such as smaller handwriting, stooped posture, shuffle while walking, tremors in hands, loss of the ability to smell, bowel changes and more. Today we are fortunate to have great resources available and qualified educators to assist patients with these issues. Understanding Parkinson’s and finding resources are of major importance in maintaining your quality of daily living.
