Bay celebrates student art exhibit

ESCANABA — Bay College is presenting its first virtual Student Art Exhibition. Each year, Bay College hosts a gallery showing of the current students’ work. Since our campus is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are celebrating our art students’ success in an online format this year.

The online exhibition represents a culmination of a semester of work for our art students including digital photography, painting, animation, and 2-D design. The students have used a variety of media to produce their compelling works and are learning to create unified compositions that effectively communicate their ideas and expertise. This is a juried art show in which one artwork per area will be selected to be part of Bay College’s permanent art collection.

“I am incredibly proud of our Bay students. They took a very difficult situation and stuck with it to push themselves to produce this wonderful exhibition! This semester was a challenge, even more than the challenge of improving yourself by pursuing your education goals. All art courses had to be moved online and what you are going to see in this virtual exhibition is perseverance and creative problem solving,” Bay College Art Instructor Kristine Granger said,

The 2020 Student Art Exhibit can be viewed on the Bay College web site at https://www.baycollege.edu/on-campus/arts-culture/student-art-exhibit.php.
