DKG Lifetime Service Awards presented to three local members

Beta Sibma Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, International, presented Lifetime Service Awards to Patricia Cheski, and Ann Christphersen, both of Menominee, and Darlene Salmi, Rapid River at their May 30th meeting in Rapid River. This award recognizes contributions to the field of education and number of years of service and contributions to DKG.
Pat Cheski, a DKG member for 10 years, received a Bachelor of Arts in Management from National Louis University in Chicago, IL, and an M.A. in Library & Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. She served 16 years as Vice President of Operations, and 7 years as Circulation Manager at the National College of Chiropractic Library. Her local employment was as Director of Menominee County Seephenson, MI Library. She is a volunteer for the Menominee Couty Historical Museum, Treasurer for Ingallston Twp, and of the West Shore Fishing Museum. She also is treasurer for Beta Sigma Chapter of DkG.
Ann Christophersen is a graduate of Menominee High School, and N.M. U., where she received a B>S Degree in Businee Education major. Ann taught business classes at Marinette Senior High for 33 years and was advisor to Future Business Leaders of America for 27 years. She has been a DKG member since 1978. Ann was instrumental in the establishment of our tri-county Chapter Investment Saving for Beta Sigma Chapter in the Community Foundation of Delta County. This fund now enables our chapter to offer $500 scholarships each spring to three local women students entering the education field.
Ann has been an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic church, NEA, WEA, Marinette Women of the Moose, and Wisconsin. Business Association.
Darlene (Dolly) Salmi has been a member of DKG since 1986. Graduating from Baraga High and NMU. After teaching one year in Clarkston, MI and Escanaba, she taught for 26 years at Mid-Peninsula in Rock, MI. She retired in 2004 and spent 16 winters substitute teaching in Lake Worth, Florida. Dolly has been the editor of the chapter newsletter for 22 years.
Dolly is an active member of First Lutheran Church in Gladstone, participating in their sewing/quilting group, Love Circle and Serving group.
