Esky competes in High School Bowl

The Escanaba Eskymos played the Superior Central Cougars in the first round of High School Bowl and were defeated by a score of 220-210. Forty schools from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin field teams for WNMU-TV’s High School Bowl tournament, now celebrating 42 years on the air. Running from November through the championship game in April, the High School Bowl series airs on WNMU-TV Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Mondays at 3 p.m. Representing Escanaba, seated from left, are players Alex Laczhazy, team captain Annabelle Seppanen, Anna Davis and Lisette LaFave. Standing are alternate Whitely Wehnmanen and coach Phil Lynch. Players for Superior Central are, seated from left, Olivia Millin, Kyle Frusti, team captain Betty Jo Swajanen and Maezie Nettleton. Standing is coach Shannon Hancock and alternates Diane Augustyn and Josie Valima. High School Bowl host Jim Koski is standing at lower left.
