ESCANABA — Local home-brewing club Bay de Noc Brewers recently completed distribution of funds from last fallís UPtoberfest event, which drew more than 1,000 people to Escanabaís Ludington Park for an afternoon of beer and wine tasting and live music.

Donations from the eventís proceeds included $10,000 to the United Way of Delta County, $1,000 to the Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center and $1,500 to the City of Escanaba Recreation Department to help with upkeep and maintenance of the grounds where the festival is held.

UPtoberfest is held each year on the second Saturday in October to highlight Michigan-made craft beers and wines and to promote the art and science of home brewing. This year’s event will be Saturday, Oct. 12, in Ludington Park. Tickets will go on sale later this summer.

Watch the UPtoberfest Facebook page or visit www.uptoberfest.org for more information.
