MANISTIQUE — The Manistique Public Safety Department announces the promotions Public Safety Officers Kevin Smith and Mark Russell have been promoted to sergeant. Sgt. Kevin Smith is a 18-year veteran of the department, beginning his tour of duty with Manistique Public Safety on Aug. 21, 2000. Sgt. Smith is married to Ashley Roberson-Smith and they reside with their children Kenya Smith, Ava Hoholik, Belyn Moulton, and Evie Moulton.

Sergeant Mark Russell has 19 total years of experience, serving with the Schoolcraft County Sheriffs Department from 1999 to 2005, whereupon he joined the Manistique Public Safety Department on June 1, 2005. Russell is married to Nicole Russell.

Both sergeants will be deployed on the afternoon/night shift operations. This staffing structure will provide first line supervision to all shifts of the Manistique Public Safety Department which provides police, fire and EMS protection to the citizens and visitors of Manistique and Schoolcraft County.
