Harbor Freight opens Escanaba store

ESCANABA — Customers were like kids in a candy store Tuesday morning during the soft opening of Harbor Freight, a tool store located in the Delta Plaza building in Escanaba.

“We use to drive to Milwaukee to shop for tools, now the store is only seven miles away,” said Escanaba resident Rod Phillips. “It’s bigger than the Marinette store.”

In mid-December 2019, management of the Delta Plaza in Escanaba announced Harbor Freight was opening a store next to another mall business, Marshalls.

The store opened Tuesday.he 16,500-square-foot store will stock a full selection of tools and accessories in categories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools and more. Harbor Freight’s hand tools come with a lifetime warranty.

“We are excited to have Harbor Freight as a part of our family of retailers … and look forward to additions to come in the future,” said Dial Properties Management Delta Plaza Property Manager Katherine Hedges.

Harbor Freight tools started as a family-owned business in 1977. The store offers more than 7,000 tools and accessories, from adjustable wrenches to zip-ties.

“We’re excited to serve customers in the great city of Escanaba,” said Scott Thorman, store manager. “At Harbor Freight, we’re passionate about providing our customers with the tools they need to get the job done, and always at an affordable price. We look forward to welcoming auto technicians, contractors, woodworkers, homeowners, hobbyists–anyone who needs affordable tools.”

Harbor Freight buys directly from the factory and tests each tool for quality and durability.

Harbor Freight is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
