St. Anthony’s pasty sale
ESCANABA — St. Anthony’s Church is having a pasty sale on Aug. 14 and 15. To preorder call or text Debbie at 906-399-4259. Pickup will be at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.
Delivery is available to Escanaba businesses. Extra pasties will be available in the late afternoon.
Soo Line Steam Engine Authority meeting Monday
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority will hold its regular Monthly meeting on Aug. 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Solid Rock Church, 819 Delta Ave.
The group will reflect on the golf fundraiser held in May and plan for the next event, scheduled for May 28, 2026. An update will be given on the status of work being done at the locomotive site will be given, and ideas for long-term future objectives will be sought for the Historical Museum and Welcome center.
Planning will also begin for a Railroad Day at the Steam and Gas Engine Association Village this fall.
Donations continue to be sought for perpetual care of the train. New donations can be made for the future Gladstone/Soo Line Historical Museum as land is being sought and building plans are being formalized. All donations are being accepted by the Community Foundation for Delta County, 2420 1st Ave South, Escanaba, Michigan. 49829. Checks can be made out in care of Soo Line #730.

St. Anthony’s raffle winner named
WELLS — The winner of the St. Anthony of Padua calendar raffle for Aug. 4 is Christine Loftquist of Escanaba. Loftquist won the $100 weekly prize.
Free Clothes Closet
GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church Clothes Closet is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closet offers free clothes, coats and shoes for children, adults and in all sizes, including infant and plus sizes. The church and clothes closet are located at 1920 Lake Shore Dr., Gladstone (near McDonald’s). Call 906-428-9311 for more information or to schedule another time.
Escanaba Class of 1965 reunion
ESCANABA — The 60th class reunion for the Escanaba Class of 1965 will be held at the Island Resort and Casino on Saturday, Sept. 6 and class members, friends and families are urged to get their paid reservations in by Aug. 11.
The reunion will be held in the Wold and Eagle conference rooms from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will include a buffet dinner with appetizers for $38 per person. Checks must be received before Aug. 11 so a payment and accurate count of those attending can be given to the casino.
Checks should be made payable to “Escanaba Class of 1965” and sent to Mark Miller, 5389 Portage Pt. 11.4 Lane, Escanaba, MI 49829.
For name tags, please include the name of the classmate and the name of the spouse or guest along with payment. Names can be changed later if needed.
So far, 55 people have paid to attend the reunion, with organizers hoping to see more than 80 at the event. The team of nine classmates who have attended planning meetings are hoping for a fun evening for all in attendance.

Free Christian Celtic music concert
ESCANABA — MPK Celtic Band, a group that performs Celtic music with a Christian message, will be performing on Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside Christian Church located at 2300 S 21st St. in Escanaba. The concert is free, but a freewill offering will be collected.
