Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve Sunday breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street, Escanaba.

There is a fee to attend the breakfast. The public is welcome.

Taste of Bavaria ­fundraiser dinner

ESCANABA — The AP literature travel group from Escanaba High School is hosting a “Taste of Bavaria” dinner fundraiser on Tuesday, May 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elks, in downtown Escanaba.

Tickets are $10, pre-sale only, and can be purchased from a student traveler or by emailing Lauren Bishop at lbishop@eskymos.com. Please specify whether you will be dining in or ordering take-out.

Ladies Day recipes

ESCANABA — Ladies Day is back at the Upper Peninsula State fair, and the theme of this year’s Ladies Day recipe contest is “vintage.” The Ladies Day Committee is seeking retro recipes, such as those from the ’40s and ’50s, to grace the pages of this year’s Ladies Day Cookbook.

All contributions are appreciated. Recipes may be sent to angelfire@chartermi.net.

Menominee County Chapter of MARSP

MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of Michigan Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet on Thursday, May 12, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338, in Carbondale. Registration will be from 11 to 11:55 a.m. CDT with the luncheon served at noon. There is a cost for the meal.

The program will include a “welcome back” and a brief business meeting. Following the meeting, the chapter memorial service will be held to honor and remember deceased Menominee County chapter members from the past years.
