WELLS — A flagpole at Garden of Rest Memorial Cemetery in Wells looks very different thanks to the work of local AMVETS.

The Vietnam veterans killed in action area in the cemetery hasn’t had a flag on its flagpole in many years, as there was no way to drop pole down, it was too high to get to the top of pole, and the graves surrounding the pole in that area made it impossible to bring in bucket truck to reach the top of the pole.

The only alternative was to cut the flag pole down. The AMVETS took off 35 feet of the pole, which was originally 70 feet on May 16.

The AMVETS would like to thank Bosk Equipment and Rental for providing equipment and assistance with the project.

Starting at $3.50/week.
