Wells Lions Club raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club 52-week raffle for the week of April 25 is Sandy Thomma, of Escanaba, who shares the prize with her grandchildren. This was week 39 of the raffle.

Legion steakfeed

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 of Gladstone will hold a steakfeed on Thursday, April 28. Food will be served from 4:30 until 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Lakeview Cemetery work bee Saturday

ESCANABA — A work bee will be held Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakeview Cemetery, in Escanaba. Participants are asked to meet at the cemetery office, 2110 3rd Ave. South, across the street from Holy Name, and to wear gloves.

Pancake breakfast

FORD RIVER — The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale will be held Sunday, May 1 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall. To reach the hall, follow the signs from M-35 or U.S. 2 & 41.

There is a cost to the breakfast, however children and seniors eat at a reduced rate and children under age five eat free.

The fire department also would like to remind Daily Press readers to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Candle Light Dinner April 30 in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Public Library are hosting the Annual Candle Light Dinner on April 30 at 6 p.m. at All Saints Church.

The event celebrates the continuing support of the community. Tickets are available at Gladstone Public Library or from any “Friends” member.
